(Dan Tri) – Newly released video shows that a Russian Lancet drone attacked a Ukrainian Su-25 fighter jet and destroyed the vehicle.

Russian war correspondent Andrey Rudenko on October 10 shared a video recording the attack at Dolgintsevo airport near the city of Krivoy Rog, Ukraine.

Images from the video show a Russian Lancet unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) attacking a Ukrainian Su-25 fighter plane while the vehicle was parked at the base.

`These images are notable because Ukrainian fighter jets were destroyed by a new type of UAV with a range of up to 120km,` said reporter Rudenko.

Late last month, a Russian Lancet UAV also destroyed a Ukrainian MiG-29 fighter jet at the above airport.

Russia is believed to have carried out upgrades to extend the range of the drones  in recent weeks, giving them the ability to strike long-range targets.

The Lancet UAV was built to perform the main task of reconnaissance, however, this drone is also capable of suicide attacks, especially against high-value targets such as enemy missile systems.

Lancet is equipped with advanced sensors and cameras that give the operator a panoramic view of the battlefield, allowing for effective target identification and raids.

Lancet operates by carrying explosives hovering in the air and continuously searching for targets.

This UAV is named `Lancet`, meaning `scalpel`, because of its ability to attack targets with high precision like in a surgery.

UAV Lancet of contractor ZALA Aero is equipped with a number of coordinate-based, optoelectronic target positioning systems.

Lancet has a speed of about 110km/h, the ability to carry a warhead weighing up to 3kg along with an integrated satellite navigation system.

The Lancet is determined to be able to cause great damage to enemy military equipment.

The Sukhoi Su-25 is a fighter bomber, anti-tank and direct air support aircraft designed by the Soviet Union.

The Su-25 is heavily armed, with a dual 30mm Gryazev-Shipunov GSh-30-2 cannon and ground attack weapons.

To date, Russia has announced the destruction of at least 486 combat aircraft, 250 helicopters, 7,572 drones, 440 surface-to-air missile systems, 12,361 tanks and other armored fighting vehicles,
